Fall is a great time of year. School begins, football season starts, and people settle into their regular schedules. Joining a small group is one of the rhythms we want to encourage people to have every week. Here are some ideas for helping people connect this Fall.
- Group Listing. Print a list of all of the small groups meeting at your church. Basic contact information along with who the group is for can help people find the right group. Download a small group template here.
- T-shirts. We love t-shirts! Have your group leaders wear an orange t-shirt on Sunday morning. It makes them easy to identify and also gives you a chance to highlight them and thank them for serving. Click here to order t-shirts!
- Connect Cards. It’s all too easy to meet someone new and not get their information to follow up and invite them to a group. Have everyone fill out a Connect Card on Sunday during service and give it the group they are interested in. Put the follow up on group leaders to call, email, text, and invite people to their group. Download a sample Connect Card.
- Fellowship One. Make your group information available online. Using Fellowship One, people can search by location, group type, and even zip code to find the right group. They can contact the leader directly which saves you a step!
- Facebook. Over a billion people are on Facebook. Use your church Facebook Page or Group to highlight the groups that are meeting. You can post each day what groups are meeting and encourage people to check them out. Take a photo of group leaders on Sunday morning and introduce them online. Or maybe make a short video with your group leaders inviting people to connect.
Those are five quick ideas you can start with. If you have questions or want help with any of the resources above, email me at kentr@newlifechicago.org.
