Today nearly every church has some sort of small groups, though the role and function of these groups may vary. There is a big difference between a church with small groups and a multiplying small group church. The first organizes people into small groups. The other creates a leadership farm system through small groups. Small groups are more than a Bible study, though we study the Bible. They are more than a prayer gathering, though we pray together. They are more than food and fellowship, though we have plenty of that! Small groups are the primary leadership development environment in our church. Grow leaders the right way and you will birth small groups. Grow leaders that raise leaders and make disciples and you could birth a movement. As a pastor, it is your task to train leaders that lead small groups, raise leaders, and mobilize disciple making.
