The book of Daniel contains some of the most famous stories in the Bible. There’s the incredible story of Daniel in the lion’s den, the four friends in the fiery furnace and the refusal to succumb to the demands of a diet decreed by the king. Why have these stories become so famous? Daniel lives with a bold faith and we are drawn in. There’s something captivating about someone who stands up.
Another thing that is inspiring is that when the story starts, Daniel is a charismatic teenage leader. He and his friends were taken captive and made to live in Babylon after their city of Jerusalem was seized. The kingdom of Babylon was completely against Daniel and his friend’s faith in the one true God. Daniel then sets an extraordinary example of being bold and faithful despite incredibly difficult circumstances. Throughout the first 6 chapters of Daniel, we learn a valuable life lesson: Because of our faith in God, we can live with boldness.
