In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are diving into a book of the Bible that wrestles with the tough questions of life: Ecclesiastes. On cloudy days, things feels heavy and unclear. It affects your mood and energy. Sometimes, even on sunny days, our minds can feel like a cloudy day that won’t go away. We can’t think clearly and we feel stuck.

Ecclesiastes resonates with this feeling and shows us that life feels chaotic and sometimes even meaningless. Focusing on things under the sun (life without God) leads to a life that doesn’t satisfy. Changing our perspective by looking above the sun where God is helps us to accept that life is out of our control but not out of God’s. He has what we need for a satisfying, meaningful life.

The problem: Life feels meaningless and hard to live.

The solution we try: We try to find meaning by coping through pleasure, work, wealth, control (power), religion, etc.

The solution that works: Fearing the Lord who holds all things (even us) in his hands.
