At New Life, we teach a principle for managing and stewarding your finances called 10-10-80.
- Give 10% – This challenges people to give the first fruits of their income and used the tithe as a starting point.
- Save 10% – This challenges people to save at least 10% of their income for rainy days and emergencies. Dave Ramsey challenges people to save $1000 first, and then build up an emergency fund of 3-6 months of your income.
- Live on 80% – This challenges people to live within their means and manage their money in a Godly way. Creating a simple budget for living expenses, food, health, and entertainment.
We have created a 10-10-80 business card that you can hand out for people to keep in their wallet or purse. This gives people a gentle reminder every time they reach for their credit card or cash to manage their money in a godly way. The back of the card includes a short prayer and declaration you can read together.
